Yasmin, Keiko and Markus (from 10.06.18):

A planned short hiking day became longer than expected. The spirits I called. So you should be at the lower end of the Wolfsschlucht in about 2,5-3 hours - it became longer....in order.

After a delicious & plentiful breakfast, with a good-humoured dog, we started in beautiful sunshine towards Güggel. Basel and the other valleys in a sea of fog - we in the sun. The way is very well signposted. Over the Güggel in direction Tannwald you have to cross one or the other pasture. Unfortunately our young pound then had to make the experience with the willow fence. Cows were his enemy #1 from now on, so we decided to follow the road at the crossing Tannwald (in view of about 20 curious cows on the way) instead of the much shorter way via pasture and cows and their "domiciliary right". Deep in the valley the signposted crossing back to the Wolfsschlucht follows. A loop that demands once again, but is definitely worth it.

Shortly before the Wolfsschlucht the (not) expected downpour came again. The meteoswiss forecast, standing directly in the rain, indicated & predicted that the sun would shine. Nice when technology works! But we are not made of sugar.

The Wolfsschlucht is a deep gorge, only a few meters wide, surrounded by steep rock faces. The wonderful trail winds its way through the gorge in small serpentines. Here do not follow the signpost to Welschenrohr but always downhill towards the valley in the middle of the gorge. There were no wolves except Keiko. A pity actually...

At the end of the gorge there is the possibility for the dog to take a well-deserved bath in the stream.
All in all about 5 hours hiking time. (direct way via pasture: approx. 3h)

If you (like me) have the key for car #2 in car #1, i.e. in Grellingen....then you have to wait another 3h. Two unplanned hours by public transport, incl. first bus and train ride for Keiko to the starting point and then one hour planned logistics back to the destination. It was very funny, because he was fly-hunting and every fly growled. Böööööööse Flies!!!! Everyone was amused...the flies too? Doubtful!

If you don't have it in your head - it's in your feet (in this case in public transport)- my grandma already knew that :-).
