Katja and Sandra with the dogs Luna, Flower, Irwina and Kaluori (from 17.07.20):

We had parked at the valley station in Vals. The hiking trail starts right there, marked with "old Zerfreila trail" (there is a booklet for those interested).

In the beginning we were accompanied by the sounds of the gravel plant. The path is quite slippery after rainfall, as it runs partly over large stone slabs and many roots. One has the feeling of being in a fairy tale forest. For those who like to barbecue, there is a barbecue area after about 2/3 of the way. 3 min away from the main path is the barbecue place Kippe.

How many bridges did we cross until the end of the tour? It must have been over 7 :-).

In former times this path was the only connection between Vals and Zerfreila. Shortly we had to cross a cow pasture, which I think is the place where cows stand in spring and autumn. If the weather is good, you will have a great view to the other side of the Rotaberg gorge.

In Zerfreila we had a little break at the restaurant. Here one could also rent scooters to drive down into the valley. Maybe something for a family, as there is a post bus going down.

Then we changed the side of the valley over the dam wall. A short, but quite steep part we followed a fence where there might be sheep with guard dogs. Is no question that in this section the dogs belong on a leash, even if the way is cut off.

At the Walser settlement Frunt with the small chapel St.Anna, one has the steeper ascents behind oneself. And it goes over partly also short metal bridges, which are to be bypassed by the dogs well, in an easy up and down further, past many beautiful mountain flowers, to the mountain station Gadastatt.

Here, we also allowed ourselves a refreshment before we went down again with the gondola. Also in this 2 way piece there is still a barbecue place, the wood is at the other side of the way.
