Reto and Tanja with Kesh (from 06.04.21):
We park our car on the designated public parking lot in the forest above Frienisberg. There is already an information board about the Chutzenturm.
We start in western direction and soon reach the edge of the forest. Here we have a beautiful view of the Frienisberg monastery and further towards Seeland and the southern foot of the Jura. There is also a bench to rest here. Before we turn off towards the tower, we pass a large and beautiful fireplace.
Now a hiking trail leads us upwards to the Chutzeturm at 819m. There is also a fireplace and lots of information about the highest wooden tower in Switzerland. The 234 oak steps are also easy to climb with a dog. At the top of the 40m high tower you have a breathtaking view in all four directions. When we have seen enough, we hike back in the forest and pass the Chutzehütte. There is also a big fireplace here. The hut with WC can be rented from the Chutze tower warden.
On the way down to the car we pass a "hollow alley". By car we stop at the Frienisberg monastery. Here there is a bird aviary and a cafeteria with shop and also the cosy Restaurant Hirschen.
