Nathalie with Indira (from 23.04.2020):

Today we decided to do a tour in the Vaud Alps, which was not a bad decision :-)
We start directly at the big parking lot in Les Mosses, at the former gondola station and follow the signpost Lac Lioson. At the beginning the path is still asphalted, but this soon changes and the gradient increases and leads over a large open pasture, covered with beautiful crocuses, which start to bloom. I suspect that in summer there will be grazing cows there. I enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding Alps and Indira is enjoying the thawing snowfields.

We go on and have to realize that right here, the winter is not quite over yet and there is still some snow. Since the path is wide, well developed and pre-paved, we continue up to the lake. At the top there is not much to see of the emerald-green Lac Lioson yet, but nevertheless the ascent was worth it and we look for a comfortable place, enjoy the warm sun and marvel at the still snow-covered Alps.

Actually a round trip was planned, but since I didn't want to take any risks, we are back on the same way. I think in summer on weekends it will be a popular excursion destination, because there is a restaurant (with bunk beds and dormitory) up at the lake and you can swim in the lake. Whether you can stay overnight with a dog would have to be clarified.

In winter, Lac Lioson is famous for ice diving. In any case we will take the tour again under our feet / paws at a later date. I recommend to put on good shoes (hiking / mountain boots) and hiking sticks.
