From Steffi Herren:
The Taubenloch-Gesellschaft and the city of Biel/Bienne have made sure that you can walk through this gorge directly from the edge of the city - as the only one in Europe.
Today the gorge path is maintained by the city of Biel/Bienne. From time to time, the responsible persons of the Bieler Baudirektion order the closure of the gorge, e.g. due to bad weather or dangerous road conditions, after a tragic accident in 1998. The instructions of the authorities must therefore be followed without fail. Visitors are allowed to enjoy the gorge experience, but should move carefully according to the conditions in the gorge. Good shoes (hiking boots) are - as for any other mountain hike - indispensable in any case.
Access to the gorge is free, there are no opening and closing times. In special cases (icing in winter, rock clearing, logging, etc.) the city of Biel/Bienne closes the access to the gorge.
By train from Biel/Bienne to Frinvillier and then on foot to discover the gorge - for spontaneous discovery with little expenditure of time. Of course, you can also do it the other way round: on foot up the gorge and back to Biel by train.
Trains from Biel/Bienne: every hour at :20, journey time about 5 minutes. Walking time to the entrance of the gorge about 10 minutes, walk to Biel-Bözingen 30 - 40 minutes
Bathing and drinking facilities at the start of the gorge (from Frinvillier), linen compulsory.
