Thal circular trail with castle ruins Neu Falkenstein

An organic farmer offers public parking for CHF 5 in Balstahl below the castle ruins of Neu Falkenstein. The amount can be thrown into a Kässeli or paid with Twint. Vis à vis from the parking lot there is also a restaurant, but we don't go there because we just came from eating.

We start our hike eastwards on the Roman road along the edge of the forest. When we enter the forest there is a big barbecue place. Here we can now see the remains of the Roman road. Also we come here on the forest path and again and again we can admire works of art made of wood, or even make music to the horror of Kesh.

Later there will be a barbecue area again with a playground and a public toilet. In the middle of the forest there is still a meadow, a farmer is here today and shows joy in Kesh. To the question if this wooden path is popular he answers that many visitors come from far away.

At the end of the meadow there is again a barbecue place and here our round trip goes back towards Balstahl. In the forest there are still some works of art from the wooden path and two more barbecue places. Afterwards we walk across a meadow with a beautiful view of the Jura, again in the forest we walk through many wooden archways and finally arrive at the ruin Neu-Falkenstein. Again there is a barbecue area and a public toilet.

The ruin is beautifully situated and we have a breathtaking view. There is also a well and Kesh can drink fresh water. At the end we go down again to our car.
