Livia with Kaya (from 07.04.18):

Once a year we go on this wonderful hike along the rocks with a beautiful view of Lake Walen. It is important to note that the ground has to be dry, as there are delicate spots in between. Good shoes are recommended anyway. Furthermore, this tour should be started really early at the weekends or then be hiked on weekdays. Start can be in Weesen (at the landing stage/also at the bus stop), in the Fly (rest. Lago Mio / by car) or in Betlis (by car / every 30 minutes).

We took off from the Fly today. Up to Betlis there is a wide road right under the rocks directly along the Walensee. Again and again Kaya can refresh herself here before the road climbs a bit. In Betlis it is recommended to admire the Seerenbach Falls (highest free falling waterfall in the world) from the platform. Shortly before that there is already the first Swiss family fireplace, which invites you to linger with a wonderful view. But we went further and rested in the Rüestli forest at the second barbecue place. From here there are several ways to Quinten (also to Walenstadt). We decided to take the easier route directly to Quinten. Nevertheless, there are some narrow places where you have to be careful. For me, as I am not free from giddiness, there are places from time to time which are better overlooked :-). Up to Quinten the way leads twice over a bridge. The descent is a bit steep, but always well secured. The village of Quinten is a dreamlike place, with a Mediterranean climate, nestled between vineyards. Here you can find various shops with homemade food or recommendable restaurants (where dogs are allowed), before returning by boat.
