Reto and Tanja with Kesh (from 10.10.19):

After shopping in Basel we decided to do another round walk at the ruin Gilgenberg. At the ruin mysterious things happen, in the crime thriller by Christof Gasser from Solothurn, that was one of the reasons to come here. Below the ruin there are free parking spaces, a Robidog and a barbecue area. There is also a poster on which 5 walks of different lengths are recorded. We wanted to hike about the tour for 1 1/2 hours. First we climbed up to the ruin Gilgenberg, it is very impressive and has a beautiful view. Then we hiked up through the forest. Kesh was very excited and showed us game in the forest. It was goats that jumped away. After that we walked over an alp, luckily there were no more cows. We skipped the turnoff to the Restaurant Meltingerberg, we wanted to see the Ibach Falls. These are really worth seeing! Afterwards we returned to our hiking trail and climbed up the steep path to Portiflueh. First we had to cross a wooden bridge, which Kesh didn't like very much, he prefers lattice bridges. On the Portiflueh we had a wonderful view of the castle and the surroundings. The descent to Zullwil was then quite difficult, very steep and because it had rained very slippery, for this reason I classify the hike as difficult.
