Spring magic in Braunwald - On a crocus tour between a sea of blossoms and an enchanted forest

The forecast was actually for rain today. But thanks to the oldest of the Glarner, the foehn, the first brightenings are already appearing around noon - our starting signal to explore the current state of the crocuses in Braunwald.

The Hüttenberg-Grotzenbüel gondola lift will be in operation daily on the weekends of 17/18 and 24/25 May 2025 (in good conditions) and from 29 May to 26 October 2025. The cogwheel railroad is already running every half hour again - ideal for a spontaneous excursion.

We enjoy the peace and quiet. We only meet a few like-minded people along the way - a rare luxury in such impressive natural surroundings. From the mountain station, we hike towards Grotzenbüel and then turn left towards Brummbach Falls. After around 30 minutes, we reach the waterfall - a real highlight with a fire pit and water playground, perfect for family adventures.

We continue through the enchanted forest, which lives up to its name. It's not just children who are enchanted here - the enchanted path, the play of light between the trees and the first harbingers of spring make for magical moments. In between, we pass a few patches of snow - our Kaya is clearly enjoying the last remnants of snow of the season. And suddenly: there they are! The first crocuses peek out of the ground. The crocus season has officially begun.

A delicate sea of flowers that is just coming to life accompanies us as far as Grotzenbüel. We take a short break here before taking the circular route back to the mountain station.
