Nathalie with Indira (from 20.06.20):

Although the Egelsee (also written Ägelsee) is hardly bigger than a pond, it is considered the largest natural lake in the canton of Aargau.

For the Mutschellen and Limmattal region it is known as a popular natural recreation area.

Today we simply explored the canton of Aargau a bit further without much planning and so a wonderful round walk was the result.

I parked my car in Kindhausen on the public parking lot, where the round trip started right away. For a while the trail led along asphalted roads (also cycle route), past farms and then branched off into the shady forest, where the signpost with Egelsee is already written.

In between we met a few bikers, but they were all very considerate.

Since we did not know the area at all we were curious what to expect at the signpost ruin Kindhausen. Indira and I made the short detour and came across some still existing walls of the ruin, which were probably built in the first half of the 12th century. We took a short break and then walked the short distance back towards the lake.

There, a beautiful nature reserve with many resting places, which invite us to barbecue and stay. Since today was Saturday, we were not the only ones who made themselves comfortable there. After a while we continued our walk and followed through the shady forest, back towards the parking lot.

A cosy round for young and old.

ATTENTION: BATHING IN THE LAKE IS ONLY ALLOWED AT THE 2 EXISTING BATHING PLACES. SWIMMING AIDS LIKE AIR MATTRESS ETC. ARE FORBIDDEN. BECAUSE IT IS A NATURE RESERVE, LEASHES ARE COMPULSORY!

GENERAL: IN THE WHOLE CT. AARGAU LEASH OBLIGATION FROM 1 APRIL - 31 JULY, IN THE FOREST AND AT THE EDGE OF THE FOREST
