Gibswil - Scheidegg - Boalp - Schwarzenberg - Farner - Gibswil

We start our hike at the train station in Gibswil (757m). A short stretch along the railway line and then we cross it. At the crossing we walk towards the tennis hall and the ski jump. There it also starts to rise. Soon we can walk a short distance in the forest. At Ämmel (819m) it goes down for a short stretch. Soon we turn left. Only briefly, (but be careful, it is badly signposted) we turn right again. We walk flat above the house in the same direction and cross the stream. From there on the trail is again well marked. There we come into the road. Now we walk slightly uphill via Eggschwändi (825m) to the farm Loch (858m). We have a wonderful panoramic view of the headwaters of the Jona river and the mountains of Central Switzerland.
A bit above we leave the road and climb up a steep meadow. The little path is hardly to be seen. When we reach the forest, we continue to the right on a wide path almost flat. Soon we turn left and now we are more or less on the ridge mostly through the forest. Above point 1036m and Ramsel (1135m) we gain more and more altitude. Soon we leave the forest and almost flat over alpine meadows we reach the Scheidegg (1197m), where we have a clear view up to the Zürisee. The Scheidegg is also well known for its slopes and delta sailing. The view reaches from the Churfirsten over the Lindtebene to the lake dam of Rapperswil and further over the Bachtel almost to Zurich. The hike now continues behind the restaurant. Now it goes down through the forest. At Unter Scheidegg we reach the road which we follow to Wolfsgrueb (972m). After crossing the creek it becomes almost flat and we reach the Untere Boalp (1086m) on the Alpweg. There you can eat if you want. Now the path becomes a bit narrower and climbs again, first on the alp meadow, later in the forest. On the Obere Boalp (1203m) the forest is already finished. The steeper part over the alpine meadow is also soon behind us. From the edge of the forest we can admire a wonderful panorama into the Töss area and soon we have reached the Schwarzenberg (1293m).

Now we go down along the ridge. We come to a wider path again and almost flat we reach the Farneralp (1157m). There you can get refreshed for the last part. Below the restaurant we go down. Below us (left photo) we can see almost all the way where we still have to go. The Bachtel greets us for the last time. Also the Lindtebene says goodbye to our eyes and soon we are gone in the forest. Shortly before Ger we cross the brook. At Ger (880m) we turn left and then right after the stream. We follow the creek for a while. An interesting section is this. When we reach the road, we turn right and follow this road. Almost flat we hike back to Gibswil via Hüebli (781m).
