Jeannette with Didge (31.08.2015):
The Harderbahn funicular railway takes the first train from Interlaken Ost up to Interlaken's local mountain "Harder Kulm". Dogs travel free of charge, half-fare cards are accepted. The viewing platform as well as the Harderkulm Restaurant is well frequented by tourists, but after about 30 minutes of our tour you are away from all the hustle and bustle. Best signposted nobody can get lost here. Just always follow the signpost "Habkern". The path leads through the forest and climbs slowly but steadily, accompanied by wonderful views of Lake Brienz, Eiger, Mönchu and Jungfrau, until we arrive at the mountain meadow (approx. 1500 m above sea level). From here we walk down the valley following the signpost "Habkern". The first turn to Habkern leads over tree roots and there are countless natural steps to overcome (good shoes required). When you reach the stream you have the choice of walking a little further over meadows or directly down the path. Once in Habkern there is a post bus connection to Interlaken West, from where you can return to Interlaken East (or directly home).
