Good hiking boots and being free from giddiness is mandatory. The dogs must obey very well and should not pull on the leash, because the mountain path is often exposed.
The area around the Niederhorn is a nature reserve and dogs must be kept on a leash.
The mountain trail takes us along the ridge towards the Gemmenalphorn, with deep views into the Justistal, Bernese Mittelland, Jura, Bernese Prealps, Alps and Lake Thun.
Past the Burgfeldstand, the highest point of the hike at 2063 metres above sea level, past picturesque pools to the turnoff to Oberberg. Maybe we'll be lucky and see chamois and ibex, or eagles and bearded vultures.
Now we go down towards Oberberg, then Oberburgfeld, Häliloch, Flösch to Vorsass. Here we have the option of taking the gondola lift, or continuing down to Beatenberg. I take the gondola.
