Barbara with Burton (important > ID and rabies vaccination):

From the train station follow the sign down towards the old town. Once you reach Marktgasse, you can still decide in which direction you want to go, or have a coffee first. On the Swiss side you turn right towards the Storchennestturm (Stork's nest tower) through the beautiful old town. Before the park we take the path on the left and see the Rhine. Passing the Park-Resort, through an underpass we finally reach the 1st bathing opportunity. Burton loves this beach, here he can easily walk into the water and cool down. However, in the summer there are a lot of people here and in any case there is a line obligation.
The footpath continues along the Rhine to the "old salt works". After this residential area and a short walk through the forest, a narrow path leads down to the new hydroelectric power station. This can be crossed on foot and is also the border to Germany. When you reach the German side, you walk along the "Fischtreppe" (fish ladder). This is to give the fish the possibility to overcome the power plant, also rare birds can be observed. Understandably, the dog unfortunately cannot swim there. For those interested in history and technology, the pavilion with an exhibition about the development of the power plant can be visited.
A little later the path leads into the forest and from there there are always bathing possibilities. Here the dog may also be allowed off the leash, but it should be retrievable. Afterwards a short ascent passes the "Höllhooge", this is a steeply sloping shell limestone rock. The house, an old fisherman's house is today a dwelling house with artist's studio. Around the property you will discover cool works of art again and again. Soon we come to the Adelberg, here you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Swiss old town. Burton is normally quite tired now, but when we cross the bridge towards Rheinfelden Switzerland, he moves in the middle towards the Inseli. Here, where a castle once stood, is another of his favourite beaches. So we can relax a little and splash around in the water here, too. After that we go straight on again in direction to the station. As an alternative, you could now also walk right to Schifflände and take the boat to Basel.
