Reto Kohli and Kesh (from 24.01.20):

Kesh and I took the Golden Panoramic train from Montreux to Les Avants. The hike led us first through the village and then gently uphill across the meadows with a wonderful view of the Dent de Jaman.

After about 30 minutes of a slightly hilly hike there is a steep exit (partly with stairs) to the viewpoint at the ruin Tour de Salausex. If the weather is fine, you can probably make out the Jet d'Eau in Geneva from here!

The path continued in a slight up and down through beautiful spruce forests. It is worth stopping briefly at the clearing Nahe point 1196 and enjoying the breathtaking view of the Dent de Jaman once again. From here the path leads down to the top station of the funicular railway Sonloup. We didn't want to wait the 20 minutes (the cable car just left the top station on arrival) and so we followed the trail down to the village of Les Avants.

The only downer: On Sonloup there is no possibility to stop for a bite to eat and enjoy the view.

By the way: this circular hike should be quite famous in May because of the daffodils ;-).
