Babs with Toya and Manuela with Dayko (from 28.03.18):
According to the motto the early bird catches the worm, we started in Bern at 06.02 o'clock on the way to Kreuzlingen.
With our senior team (Toya/17 and Dayko/10) we started the Way of St. James in Kreuzlingen.
After a rock start, which gave us a bigger detour, we found the right way. From now on everything went like clockwork. A great hiking trail that led us through woods and fields, which was often accompanied by a little brook. Sometimes we also stopped on the road, but this did not take away our joy. Very positive are also the many Robidogs, which are positioned along the route.
The first stage to the chapel Bernrain shows the suffering of Jesus, which was very impressive for us. About halfway we had our lunch break at the Bommer Weiher, which is highly recommended. Unfortunately the dogs are not allowed to bathe here.
Although it was not on the pilgrimage route, we made a detour to the church of St. James (about 15 minutes) and it is very worthwhile. Our hike took a little longer than the 14 kilometres and 4 hours 10 minutes. With our seniors we were on the way with detours and breaks at a leisurely pace for almost 6 hours.
The weather meant it very well with us and so we were allowed to enjoy the pilgrimage in sunshine.
We recommend this route to others, we had a lot of fun and are looking forward to reporting about the next route.
