Thomas and Steffi with Molly (from 17.04.20) - Wow, what a round trip!

We start at the Restaurant Sternen, at Bütschel/ Gschneit (bus stop, parking spaces at the public parking lot to Leueberg), a few minutes along the side road to the Tavel memorial. Benches invite you to linger with a view of Lake Thun, Gürbental, Niesen, Stockhorn etc.

Then turn right into the forest in the direction of Niederbütschel. Attention: In between there are signposts to Bütschelegg (of course you can also walk) but for this round trip we continue in the direction of Niederbütschel, then Baumgarten and only at the hamlet of Baumgarten the Bütschelegg trail!

The circular trail leads through woods, meadows, field paths and small roads through the farmhouses (some of them with farm dogs). Twice you have to cross the main road.

Until Baumgarten relatively even, then it goes down once, then again on a side road along the brook to Baumgarten.

From the hamlet of Baumgarten there are about 340 HM to the Bütschelegg to master over the meadow and forest (could have cows in summer).

Once you arrive on the Bütschelegg, you can enjoy the wonderful view from the vantage point!

Because of Corona the pub is closed, otherwise you can enjoy Tamil-Swiss cuisine under the trees (dogs and hikers welcome).

At the restaurant/hiking sign, take the signpost on the right, again through the forest, towards the Tavel memorial. This will take you back to the starting point.

A varied hike, not recommended in hot weather, as there is a lot of sunshine.

We have indicated about 3 hours without a break, we had with breaks a little over 4 hours.

It was Friday morning, therefore hardly any hikers on the way.
