Livia & Thomas with Kaya (from 11.10.25):
Our hike begins at the Maloja Orden parking lot and first takes us over the Orlegna dam. Even here, we get our first glimpse of the surrounding mountains and the glistening water. From here, you can either choose the "Capel" smugglers' trail, which is popular with children - a small, adventurous path full of secrets - or the "normal" trail through a bright larch forest, whose golden needles glow in the autumn light, to Lägh da Bitabergh. A refreshing break at the clear mountain lake invites you to linger.
We then follow the signposts in the direction of Lägh da Cavloc. After a few ascents and descents, we slowly climb the 50 meters to the highest point of the hike - a perfect place to take in the mountain scenery. Soon the Lägh da Cavloc lies before us, framed by the striking Pizzi dei Rossi. It doesn't matter whether we turn left or right at the fork in the path: both paths lead around the lake and meet at the charming little Ristorante Cavloccio. On the lakeshore, several official fireplaces with firewood invite you to take a leisurely break.
On the way back to Maloja, we follow the road past the Salecina education center back to the starting point of Maloja Orden - with many impressions of autumnal larch trees, sparkling lakes and the clear mountain air in our luggage.
