Reto and Tanja with Kesh from juradog.ch (from 16.10.22):
We park our car on the public parking lot in Flüelen, this is chargeable. Opposite is also just the train station of the SBB and the Schiffländte.
We walk along the lakeside promenade and admire the beautiful cargo ships and the many houses with lake access. A privileged residential area! At the end of the houses we make a detour to a beach with barbecue area, which is probably well visited in summer. Kesh is allowed to take a bath here.
Then we go under the railroad and about 50m up the Axenflueh. We always look at the wild Urner basin and pass through pine forests. The route goes along the Axenflueh, which gave the name to the famous Axenstrasse. It also has steps again and again. In the half we come twice for a short stretch to the car road.
Later we come to a bell tower which was donated to the population by the chocolate factory owners. We wait for the full hour to hear the bells. Then we descend to the Tell's chapel with the Tell's plate. There is also a restaurant with toilet.
Further along the lake Kesh can bathe again. Here the Way of St. James is described on the wall. Soon we see Sislikon with the boat landing. From here we take the boat back to Flüelen.
It is the last ship of the season, after that there is the possibility to take the train back. Also, of course, it is possible to continue on the Swiss way. For a Sunday we didn't even find it very crowded and "the way of Switzerland" we liked very much. It was made by all Swiss cantons and given to the Swiss people.
