Sargans - Weisstannen

My brother and I start in Sargans at the railway station and set out on the 2 stage of the Via Alpina route. Until Mels, the route mainly follows the road/cycle path, but this does not stop us from admiring the surrounding mountains and countryside. From Mels on it is time to roll up your sleeves! Because from there on the path (old path) begins to go steeply upwards. On the way we meet friendly people from time to time, have nice conversations and find the possibility to take a short break. So we also got the tip in Vermol with the rest. To stop at Alpenrösli.

Once there, we make ourselves comfortable on the terrace under the trees and treat ourselves to something cool.

Afterwards we continue in direction Weisstannen. From Vermol on, depending on the telephone provider, there is no reception anymore, which can be nice. In Schwendi we stop again and eat something small. From here we follow the rest of the route to Weisstannen, mostly along the beautiful Seez and there is always the possibility for dog and master to cool down. Those who want to continue the route towards Elm have the possibility to stay overnight in Weisstannen.

However, since there may still be snow on the Foopass at this time of year, it is recommended not to cross it. So we are back to Sargans by bus.
