From the top of the Schwägalp pass follow the hiking trail to the Hinterfallenchopf.
Soon you are off the busy road. A narrow path winds through a wooded moor to the Chräzerenpass. Then you continue on an alpine road to Alp Horn. Here one leaves the direct path to Hinterfallenchopf. One climbs up to Pfingstboden, where one enjoys the view before descending to Ellbogen.
From Ellbogen the path goes uphill again. On a comfortable path across alpine pastures one reaches the Hinterfallenchopf. The view is very varied. You can see the steep walls of the Alpstein, the green Appenzell and Toggenburg hills, the gorge of the Ofenloch and a small piece of Lake Constance.
We descend again to Ellenbogen and this time turn left towards Horn (if you feel like it and are sure-footed you can still go down to Ofenloch on this path) and then walk back from Horn on the same path to the top of the Schwägalp pass.
