Livia with Kaya (dated 29.04.19):

Quite spontaneously we escape the bad weather with destination Ticino. How great there are great partners where dog and human are welcome together. Since we absolutely want to visit the Food Truck Festival in Locarno on Saturday and the excursion to Foroglio (Bavona Valley) is planned for Sunday, we stay overnight in Cugnasco on the Camping Riarena with the warm family Berner.

Early in the morning we dismantle our overnight camp and set off for the Maggia Valley.

As linen is compulsory everywhere in Ticino, we take the opportunity to stop in Losone on the way to Foroglio. Here there are designated dog-free zones.

We continue along the Maggia until almost all the way back to Foroglio. Since we are on the road early, there is not much traffic yet and we can always stop again to enjoy the amazing view. Now in spring anyway a pleasure to admire these gorgeous colours in combination with the crystal clear water and the many waterfalls. Ascona-Locarno Tourism recommends on its website the top hike into the Calnègia Valley, but local people advise us not to do this tour today due to the weather conditions.

So we park our car in Foroglio and take the post bus to Sonlerto. From here we walk comfortably along the "Bavona" until we return to Foroglio.

The many stops and impressions made us hungry and as we calculated enough time for today (absolutely recommended), we enjoy a delicious polenta with cheese in the Osteria Froda.

We will definitely visit the Bavona Valley again and then a little longer (Camping Melezza, Losone or TCS Camping, Gordevio would be a little closer) so that we can explore the wonderful area further. In San Carlo there is a cable car that takes us up to 1891 m above sea level and from there we can enjoy a wonderful walk on the other natural beauties (Lago dei Robièi or Lago del Zött).

We are looking forward to it and now we are going back over the San Bernardino with a lot of sunshine in our minds and back into the cold and wet weather.
