Nathalie with Indira (from 14.06.18):

We drive by car to Solothurn and follow the signpost Hermitage. Almost at the end of the church path, there is a small gravel parking lot on the right side (more parking lots are located at the hermitage / Verana gorge). There one of the pleasant paths into the forest begins, through the idyllic Verena Gorge.
It's a bit like being in another world. Along the water, we walk slowly up and Indira allows herself to cool down a little every now and then. At the top, we find a small chapel and a little house (hermitage) with a beautiful, well-kept garden that reminds us of a fairy tale. The restaurants upstairs invite you to stay. The hermitage is a religious place and has been inhabited by a forest brother / hermit or hermitess for many hundreds of years. The whole Verena Gorge is under NATURAL PROTECTION, so dogs must be kept on a leash. Because the gorge is offside and yet rather centrally located, it is also during the week, a popular, well-attended place. But on hot summer days, a welcome, nice change for dog and master, because everything is in the shade. There are several paths leading through the canyon, so you can make it a nice round walk.
