Basel with dog

The cultural city for connoisseurs not only offers numerous museums. The beautiful old town, modern architecture and the Rhine invite you to linger - even with a dog!

In the immediate vicinity of the exhibition grounds there is a Freewheel area. The area is generously fenced in and the tree avenue offers wonderful shade in summer.

Along the Rhine (along the St. Alban-Rheinweg and the Tinguely Museum) there are two dog bathing areas in which dogs can move freely without a leash and use the Rhine for cooling off and swimming. The two bathing zones are intended to cover the needs of dogs from both districts and to minimise potential conflicts with visitors to the Rhine without a dog due to the somewhat remote location of the bathing resorts.

Something outside should be free time for the Zoo alder can be included. It was founded in 1871, three years before the Zolli (and almost 60 years before the Zurich Zoo). Contributing to the success story are the further development, the adaptation to new conditions or even a return to old values, both in the choice of animal species, animal husbandry and the level of the flora. This is supported by the enormous recognition, if not love, of a broad section of the city's population, which fortunately is reflected in many large and small donations and legacies, which make it possible for the zoo to be visited and enjoyed free of charge by all.

The circular route along the Rhine takes about 2 hours walking.
