If a weekend could be perfect, then the one in Arosa came very close. A fantastic mountain panorama, sporting activities in the great outdoors, warm hospitality and a culinary pampering program and all this together with the dogs - what more could you want?
We set off early on Saturday morning, meeting at the Hotel Aves Homebase Arosa at 9.30 am. Even the hotel's own spacious parking spaces in the underground garage made a positive impression and the wide variety of guests in the corridors and lobby showed a colorful mix of people. The first floor is taken up by a large bar that invites you to linger, whether it's for a coffee or a drink. I am immediately greeted by Milena, who is responsible for Sales & Marketing and shows me around the hotel. There's something for everyone here, whether it's a good dinner in the restaurant Share, a place to work in the Working Spaces, a room for courses, yoga or workshops, the bar for a drink or the reading corner to relax. And the best thing is: dogs are welcome everywhere here. There is plenty of space for dog beds in the hotel rooms and dogs are also allowed in some of the apartments on the top floor. These are ideal if you still want to have a sofa to yourself in the evening or cook your own meals. All rooms and apartments have a balcony with a wonderful view of the Arosa mountains. This can also be enjoyed from the hotel terrace, preferably with a Spritz. This is the hotel's specialty: there are several different types of Spritz, which can be enjoyed either with or without alcohol. It's worth trying!
You can end the afternoon quietly in the hotel, the dogs can go down to the room and sleep. For dinner, however, they can come with you to the Share restaurant on the ground floor. Here you are spoiled with culinary delights: there is something for everyone on the small but fine menu, including a large selection of different pinsas. I can highly recommend the chickpea pan with sweet potatoes. Another must-try is a delicious ice cream - with so many tasty flavors to choose from, it's hard to say no.
A bike competition took place at the same time that weekend. The start and finish were right by the hotel. So there was a lot going on in and around the hotel, but the atmosphere was great, the people were all friendly and there was good entertainment on the sun terrace in the afternoon. It's nice to see that Aves Homebase also supports events like this and brings people together.
Of course, we weren't just there for the hotel, but also to explore the beautiful mountain trails. So on Saturday we went on a slightly shorter tour, which took us up to the middle station and back again via Innerarosa on easily accessible paths. You can find the details of the hike here.
With a comfortably full stomach and tired from the day, we go to bed early and have a quiet night thanks to the well-damped walls. The next morning we are greeted by a bright blue sky and after the first short walk around the lake with the dogs, we all have breakfast before heading into the mountains. The breakfast buffet is impressive: there's something for everyone, including vegan, lactose-free and gluten-free alternatives. My highlight is the ginger, lemons and honey, which are available for use with the tea next door.
Strengthened, we set off early so that we can take advantage of the cooler temperatures and perhaps avoid the biggest rush of other bikers and hikers. We head up to the Weisshorn and back down again on beautiful trails. Here you can find the report on this challenging but very rewarding hike, which we completed as a trail run, i.e. it is also very suitable for those who enjoy trail running.
We are back at the hotel by midday and the plan was to set off straight away. However, we were once again persuaded by the hotel's hospitality to sit down again. So we ended the trail run with a delicious oat milk cappuccino for me and water and treats for the dogs.
With lots of wonderful memories, we then get into the car and make our way back to the lowlands. It certainly wasn't the last time we were there!
Thank you very much for your warm hospitality!
